Tanglewood offers a cornucopia of interesting things to experience. No matter how simple or sophisticated your desires are there is an activity to match them. Great places for hiking, golf and horseback riding are a quick drive. Take in a winery, go shopping on an organic farm, select a Christmas tree or relax with a spa treatment. Bring a taste of the Shenandoah Valley back by visiting the antique stores or the little roadside stands that help give Front Royal, Flint Hill, Little Washington, and the other easily accessible places so much character. You know at the end of the day you can come back to Tanglewood and be pampered.
The Parks
Just five minutes from Tanglewood’s grounds is the entrance to world famous Shenandoah National Park and its amazing Skyline Drive. The park offers great places to picnic, hike, and just enjoy the scenery.
Smaller State Parks such as Andy Guest and Sky Meadows have great views and their own charms.
Wineries
The best of the Virginia vintners surround Front Royal. Most of the wineries offer tastings, sometimes wine events such as dinners and fascinating tours.
Organic Farms and Orchards
From farmers growing fruits, vegetables, and raising organic meat to Christmas tree farms, there is a farm to visit for everyone.
Antiquing
From Front Royal’s local shops to the big antique mall in nearby Strasburg, there are bargains still to be found in the Valley.
